CARMEL AND THE FRENCH REVOLUTION: The Martyrs of Compiegne

Sciurba, Salvatore, OCD. The execution of the 16 Carmelite nuns from the monastery of Compiègne was the beginning of the end of the bloody French Revolution. The events that led up to this dramatic moment are discussed as well as the implications of the nun’s almost two years of constant, daily prayer for the restoration of peace to France and to the Church.
